- Registration:
- Parents wishing to admit a child should first register the child for an admission test by completing the admission form at the school office and taking an appointment card for the test and interview.
- Registration does not in any way confirm or guarantee admission. Admission is subject to getting through an admission test / interview and availability of the seat.
- The class for which a child is tested is determined according to the child’s age as at :
* 31st July for schools where the academic session starts in August.
- Assessment
PRE-NURSERY - KINDERGARTEN
An informal individual assessment test is taken combined with an interview with both the parents. Generally, the reading level of a child, the vocabulary and concepts of colours and numbers are assessed. In addition, the confidence of the child, the level of spoken English and more skills are taken into consideration.
CLASS – I ONWARD
- Applicants for Class I onward are tested in three subjects – English, Bangla (optional for foreign students) and Mathematics. The pass percentage is 50%. Duration of each paper is approximately 30 minutes.
- For the written test, the child should come properly equipped with pencil, eraser, sharpener and ruler.
- The papers are not set from the specific textbooks or syllabus but are of a general nature designed to test the aptitude of the child in the basic subjects.
- The test paper is not shown to anyone and only marks are communicated to the parents / guardians.
- A candidate caught cheating during the admission test will be rejected.
The list displaying names of selected candidates will be put up on the notice board of the concerned branch on the date given by school.
In all cases, merit is the sole criterion for admission. The decision of the school cannot be challenged in any way and will be final.
- Admission Formalities
- Details should be collected from the school office as soon as information is received that the child has qualified for admission.
- At the time of admission, a non-refundable admission fee, a refundable security deposit and two months tuition fee is payable.
- Admission remains provisional and is not confirmed unless the following documents are submitted.
- School leaving certificate and progress report card from the previous school attended.
- Copy of birth certificate from the hospital/clinic where the child was born as well as the municipal corporation’s birth certificate. Original should be produced at the time of interview.
- One stamp size and two passport size photographs of the child.
Payment Procedure
- REGISTRATION FEE
Registration fee is payable at the time the parent/guardian registers the child’s name for the admission test. The fee is paid in cash in the school office and an original receipt is issued to the parents.
- ADMISSION FEE
At the time of admission, the admission fee, the security deposit and two months tuition fee is payable.
- Admission fee challans are obtained from the school office and are to be paid in cash in the bank where the school operates its account. Admission dues can be paid in two installments.
- The admission remains provisional until the admission dues are paid.
- If admission dues are not paid within the due date the admission is automatically cancelled and the seat is offered to the next candidate on the merit list.
Parents must retain a copy of the paid fee challans in safe custody for future reference.
- WITHDRAWAL
- In case of withdrawal, the security deposit is refunded after adjusting school dues.
- The parent/guardians will be required to give one month’s notice in writing or one month’s fees in lieu of notice thereof.
- Students withdrawn on completion of an academic session in May with or without notice are liable to pay the school fees for the summer vacation.
- INTER COUNTRY TRANSFER
The City School provides the facility of transfer from one Country to another to its students who have completed at least one academic year in the school. This facility incurs a transfer fee Taka 3000/-, payable whenever such a transfer takes effect.
- GENERAL
- The School fees payable every two months and for all 12 months of the year are deposited in the bank where the school operates its account. However, fees for the summer vacation are payable in advance before the closure of school.
- Fees paid after the due date is subject to a flat fine of Taka 150/- (regardless of the number of days overdue).
- If no fees have been received till the end of the month, the student is treated as withdrawn and a re-admission fee of Taka 5,000/- is charged if re-admission is possible.
Registration fee and admission fee are non-refundable.
The admission fee, tuition fee, the security deposit and the registration fee or any other fee is subject to review from time to time with or without notice due to inflation and increase in direct and indirect costs.
